QUANG BINH A cave over 1.5 km long with beautiful stalactites has recently been discovered in the conservation forest of Quang Ninh District, in the heart of the Truong Son Forest.
On September 6, Mr. Hoang Trong Duc, the Chairman of Truong Son Commune, Quang Ninh District, reported that the newly discovered cave has been temporarily named “Son Nu” by the locals. He and the local residents went to explore it.
The cave, which is over 1.5 km long, is located in Diu Do Village, under sub-area 549 managed by the Forest Management Board of Quang Ninh District. Inside the cave, there are numerous beautiful stalactites, clear water, and it’s even possible to paddle a boat from one end to the other. The water from the cave flows into Khe May Stream, situated in the pristine forest of the Truong Son Mountain Range.
“To reach Son Nu Cave from the commune center, you need to walk about 1.5 km, and then it takes about an hour to cross the rocky terrain,” said Mr. Duc. The local authorities are currently preparing a report on the new cave to submit to higher levels.
Mr. Duc hopes that in the future, this cave will be developed as a tourist attraction, creating more job opportunities for the Van Kieu ethnic community.
