Tien Pagoda

1. Where is the Tien Pagoda?

Tien Pagoda Relics is also known as Song Tien Pagoda. The pagoda is located in the heart of Dai Tuong mountain, Hoang Hoa Tham street, Chi Lang ward, Lang Son city. Location is about 500m from Ky Cung bridge and about 160 km northeast of Hanoi capital. This is a place containing many rich and special cultural and religious values. With folk tales and ancient statues imbued with national culture.

2. How is the Tien Pagoda unique?

Tien Pagoda belongs to the Northern Sect (Mahayana). The pagoda worships Fairies, Holy Mothers and national heroes. With the desire to express gratitude to the fairies, saints and heroes. Hoping for protection so that people’s lives will always be peaceful.

Currently, the Tien Lang Son Pagoda relic still retains many ancient artifacts of high artistic value. These are dharma statues, parallel sentences and stone stele. Ancient people used 13 steles carved on the cliffs of mandarins from many dynasties. The most special is the stele engraved with the poem “Tran Doanh eight scenes” by Ngo Thi Si. The poem praises the beauty of 8 Lang Son places, including Tien Pagoda.

3. Legend associated with the birth of the Lang Son – Tien Pagoda

According to historical records in “Dai Nam Nhat Thong Chi”, Tien Pagoda was a pagoda established with the name Song Tien Tu. The pagoda is located on the slopes of Deo Giang mountain. But because it was damaged and degraded, it was moved to Song Tien cave about 200m away. The pagoda was established during the reign of Le Hong Duc. This place contains many folk beliefs worshiping national heroes, fairies and Mother Goddesses.

Besides the above historical records, according to the people here, the birth of the Tien Pagoda relic is also associated with an extremely interesting legend. The story goes that there was a Fairy living on the mountain who often had the buffalo herding children in the village give him a small portion of rice. He stomped down the rocky mountain and turned this place into Fairy Well. Bestowing clear water to the villagers of Phai Luong. Help villagers during days of lack of rain and drought. This is a folk tale kept by villagers until now.

4. How to get to Tien Pagoda – Lang Son

Tien Pagoda is located in Lang Son city in the Northeast region of Vietnam, about 160 km from the capital Hanoi and connected by the Hanoi – Lang Son highway so travel is quite convenient. Therefore, you can easily move to Lang Son by the following 3 means:

4.1 Means of transportation from Hanoi to Lang Son

By Coach:

You go to My Dinh, Gia Lam or Giap Bat bus station to catch a bus to Lang Son city. Travel time is about 2 – 2.5 hours.

By Train:

You can choose to go to Lang Son from Hanoi on train number DD5, a distance of 150 km by rail with a duration of about 4 hours. You can choose to buy tickets depending on the type of seat and carriage.

By private vehicles

If traveling by motorbike, you will follow the route from Hanoi – Bac Ninh – Bac Giang – Lang Son or follow Highway 5 and then go to Road 1A. If you go by car, you can get to Lang Son quite easily via the Hanoi – Lang Son highway.

By taxi

5. Exploring the natural beauty and traditional culture at the Tien Pagoda – Lang Son

Tien Pagoda – Lang Son Relics is a cultural and historical tourist destination that attracts tourists from all over. The pagoda has a very unique architecture deep in the rock cave. Tien Cave is not located close to the foot of Dai Tuong mountain like other pagodas of Lang Son. Want to go into the cave to visit the temple. You have to pass more than 65 winding stone steps. 6.4. Lang Son Wormwood Cake

A delicious, sweet-flavored cake is produced from a type of leaf known as wormwood. The process involves soaking young wormwood leaves in ash water, washing them to remove fibers, and crushing them to extract sugar for baking wormwood cakes. The sticky rice, once cooked, is then crushed with wormwood leaves to produce a smooth powder used in making the cakes.

6.5. Banh Chao

It’s an attractive delicacy with a filling filled with duck meat and an attractive crispy crust. Banh Chao will be best when eaten with papaya dipping sauce mixed with marinated vinegar to create a unique flavor.
