1. Where is Tham Phay Cave?

Tham Phay Cave is located in Na Slai village, Hoang Tri commune of Ba Be district, Bac Kan province, Vietnam. About 83 km northwest of Bac Kan city and about 222 km north of Hanoi capital.

About 235 km from Hanoi, visitors can easily travel to Tham Phay cave, Bac Kan by many means such as motorbikes, cars, and buses.

4.1 From Hanoi to Ba Be tourist area

4.1.1 By Personal Vehicle

This is quite a popular choice for travelers who want to be proactive and comfortable during their trip. You just have the opportunity to conquer the ideal road trip, with poetic roadside scenery. However, you need to control your speed and obey traffic laws to ensure safety.

4.1.2 By Passenger Cars

Passenger cars will be a fairly safe and fast choice. At Yen Nghia or My Dinh bus station, you can easily catch bus companies to Ba Be, Bac Kan such as An Binh, Thuong,…

In addition, for tourists in the Southern region, they can choose a bus, or more quickly and conveniently, they should choose a plane to Hanoi and then move to Bac Kan.

4.1.3 How To Move To Ba Be Tourist Area

If traveling by personal means, you can follow the instructions of Google map or follow the reference route below.

From Hanoi, follow the Hanoi – Thai Nguyen highway -> turn to National Highway 3 -> go to the intersection with TL 268 -> turn left and move towards Dinh Hoa (Chu Market) -> move along Follow route 254 to Bang Lung ( Cho Don) -> continue going about 40 km to Ba Be.

4.2 From Ba Be tourist area To Tham Phay cave

From Ba Be tourist area, tourists depart along provincial road TL254 in the Southeast direction for about 4 km, then there is a fork. You continue to move along the inter-district road for about 6 km more to reach a fork. If you go straight you will go to Hua Ma cave, you do not go that way but turn right and go about 5 km further to reach Tham Phay cave.

On the way, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy the peaceful scenery of upland fields, vast rice fields swaying in the wind,… The pure landscape gives you strength. All fatigue disappeared, only the mind remained to go straight to the Tham Phay cave that beckoned ahead.

The road to Tham Phay cave is quite difficult. Due to its location deep in the mountain and not known to many people, Bac Kan tourists are required to be brave enough to successfully conquer the cave. However, the results you get will be more than worth it when you overcome your limits.

5. Exploring the beauty of Tham Phay cave

Visitors will be truly surprised by the beauty of Tham Phay cave, which can be considered a “Son Doong in Northern Vietnam”. Viewed from the cave entrance, there are images of stalactites with countless beautiful shapes, while on both sides of the cave entrance are rocky shores with beautiful shapes deformed by the flow of time. The cave’s dome is quite high and wide. The deeper you go, the more bats cling black to the roof of the dome. Below is a stream of clear water. These images are no different from those seen at Son Doong cave in Quang Binh.

There is only one path to the mountain, quite dangerous, having to cross people’s fields, through streams, bamboo bridges, and densely wooded paths. The cave’s location is halfway up the mountain. Without a guide, it would be impossible to discover where the cave entrance is.

Is worth visiting Tham Phay cave

Going down from the cave entrance about 20 m deep is quite slippery because below is soil, above from the cave entrance water continuously drops. Right at the entrance to the cave are stone blocks shaped like the teeth of a giant monster, below is an underground stream in the cave with moderate shallowness and flow.

The stream in the cave is very clear, in some parts it is only knee deep, you can clearly see the white rock at the bottom. There are also sections where the water is waist-deep and the bottom is mostly sand.

Going deeper into the cave than 1km, the cave is divided into two branches, one branch on the left penetrates deep into the mountainside, the second branch on the right penetrates into the mountain and the water level is quite deep so the group chose to continue on the next branch. left hand. 8. Some important notes when traveling to Tham Phay cave

Although it is a tourist attraction with its unique beauty. But the terrain of Tham Phay cave is always dangerous. So you need to prepare carefully for a safe journey of discovery.

  • There is a huge difference in temperature outside and inside the cave. Even in the summer, when coming to Tham Phay you should wear comfortable clothes. Long pants, long-sleeved shirts or a windbreaker to avoid heat stroke.
