Thach An is a mountainous district of Cao Bang province in the Northeast region of Vietnam. About 40 km southeast of Cao Bang city and 270 km northeast of Hanoi capital. With geographical location:

  • The East borders Shuikouzhen in Guangxi province, China
  • The West borders Nguyen Binh district and Ngan Son district, Bac Kan province
  • The South borders Trang Dinh district, Lang Son province
  • The North borders Hoa An district, Quang Hoa district and Cao Bang city.

3. When is the best time to travel to Thach An?

  • From August to September can be considered the most beautiful season of Thach An when the waterfalls here pour abundant and clear water, many terraced fields and the ripe rice season create a shiny golden color that covers the entire space. .
  • The rainy season is from June to September, the water flows, creating white foam. Water filled the terraced fields, looking like a giant mirror reflecting the majestic sky and earth here.
  • The dry season is from October to May of the following year, the weather is colder, the water flows calmer and is clearer.
  • If you want to see the waterfall and admire the ripe rice season, you can go in October.

From Cao Bang city, tourists travel along Highway 4A about 40 km southeast to reach Dong Khe town – the capital of Thach An district.

Dong Khe Victory historical relic site is located in the south, about 45 km from the center of Cao Bang city. The relic site is associated with the Dong Khe victory, one of the opening battles of the Dien Bien Phu campaign in 1950. The relic site has also been recognized by the state as a National Historical Site since 1975.
