Sao Ha Village

Ha Giang has many villages that tourists love and choose as destinations on their journey to Dong Van Karst Plateau. Such as: Lo Lo Chai cultural village, H’Mong ethnic cultural village, Pa Vi Ha village , Nam Dam village

However, recently Ha Giang has another location that is also of great interest to tourists after the success of two “popular” movies in Vietnam, which is Sao Ha village. Let’s explore this special village with Origin Vietnam.

1. Where is Sao Ha Village?

Located about 20 km from the center of Dong Van district, Sao Ha village belongs to Kho Cho, Van Chai commune, Dong Van district, Ha Giang province. Recently, Sao Ha has become a destination sought and explored by many travelers.

2. How is Sao Ha village unique?

According to H’Mong pronunciation, Sao Ha means “high valley”. This village is located at an altitude of about 1,500m above sea level. Because there are few inhabitants and surrounded by sacred forests, this place still retains its wild beauty, with a hint of magic.

Many tourists who have been to Sao Ha commented that this village has a strange and quiet beauty. The mountains are wide, the village is narrow, and there is no electricity, running water, or phone signal, so tourists only visit during the day.

Coming here, visitors are impressed with the architecture of the walled houses of the H’Mong ethnic group (using soil to form walls to withstand harsh weather on the rocky plateau), yin-yang tiled roofs, and rows of sturdy stone fences. These houses are located in clusters, surrounded by a primeval ancient forest of about 500 hectares.

Due to the difficult terrain, the lives of the people in the village are quite simple, mainly living on a self-sufficient basis. They often grow flax, corn, mustard greens, herd goats, and weave fabrics by hand.

3. When is the best time to travel to Sao Ha village?

The ideal time to visit Sao Ha is in spring. At that time, peach blossoms bloomed, radiating bright pink color, dispelling the cold and quiet look of the village. This is also the season of unique traditional festivals of ethnic minorities here.

In addition, you can visit Sao Ha in the fall to visit the golden, ripe rice fields that stretch seemingly endlessly. The ideal time for you to visit Sao Ha village is from September to April next year.

4. How to get to Sao Ha village?

4.1. From Ha Giang

From Ha Giang city center:

Visitors follow Highway 4C to Tham Ma slope, continue to Van Chai Commune People’s Committee, then follow the small concrete road for another 2 km to reach the village.

Near the beginning of the village, you move through an old forest with many ancient trees, through the bamboo forest to reach the living place of 22 H’Mong households, all with the Vang family, living in a village.

From Yen Minh district:

Visitors go through a pass about 17 km long with long bends and slopes. At the foot of Tham Ma slope, they move about 4 km further to reach Van Chai commune.

Because the village is located deep in the forest, to get here, visitors must travel by motorbike, traveling a distance of about 2 km. The road from outside to the village is a concrete road but is very small, has lots of rocks, high slopes, and quite dangerous curves.

4.2. From Hanoi capital

If tourists depart from Hanoi, a bus, taxi or private car is the optimal choice. Because the distance from Hanoi to Ha Giang is quite far, about 300 km, so you need to stay healthy and save travel time to focus on conquering destinations in Ha Giang.

Tourists can easily catch a bus at My Dinh, Giap Bat bus station,… to travel to Ha Giang city. With a distance of about 300 km, the travel time takes about 6-7 hours. Buses to Ha Giang usually depart in the evening, you get on the bus and sleep, the next morning you will be in Ha Giang city.

From Ha Giang city to Sao Ha village, it is about 160 km. Visitors can travel by car within the province, rent a taxi to Dong Van town, then continue to Sao Ha village. Or you can rent a motorbike in Ha Giang city and go straight to Sao Ha village.

You will have the opportunity to admire the extremely beautiful natural landscape along the road. But you need to make sure you have strong driving skills, especially on these mountainous roads with many steep passes.

4.3. From the central and southern provinces of Vietnam
