IMG Phja Da Peak Cao Bang

1. Where is Phja Da peak?

Phja Da Mountain is located on the border between Son Lap commune in Bao Lac district and Thai Son commune in Bao Lam district. It is considered the “roof” of Cao Bang province, Vietnam. This place has a wild and mysterious natural landscape. About 170 km west of Cao Bang city and about 400 km north of Hanoi capital.

2. How is Phja Da peak unique?

With a diverse terrain of limestone plateau, Phja Da Mountain has its own unique beauty from its altitude, natural scenery, ecosystem and unique culture of each ethnic group and region.

With an altitude of 1,977 meters above sea level, you feel like you are touching the sky. You cannot distinguish the distance between the mountains and the clouds. The higher you go, the more clouds fly in layers and billows. If you reach out your hand, you can touch the gently flying clouds.

Behind each layer of clouds, there will be long waves of sunlight passing by. It allows you to look down at your feet and watch each strip of white clouds floating on top of each other.

This is also where the Dao, H’Mong, Lo Lo,…ethnic groups live. Each village has its own unique culture from the architectural space of stilt houses, mountainous cuisine, costumes, living rituals, etc.

3. What is the best time to conquer Phja Da peak?

You can travel to Phja Da mountain in any season of the year, each season has its own unique beauty. According to our experience, the best season is from September to April next year. The weather is cool, favorable for enjoying the beauty of mountains and waterfalls.

Cao Bang not only has a cool climate with little rain at this time. It also offers majestic scenery with powerful waterfalls. This is also the ideal time for taking “virtual living” photos at famous waterfalls.

If you want to experience the blooming season, the last two months are a good choice. Bright buckwheat flowers and wild sunflowers create a wonderful natural picture. Winter also brings a cold experience, with the white snow and ice images covering the mountains.

Especially during the flower season in March, the flower trees bloom bright red on both river sides. It creates a romantic scene like small fires lighting up the sun into giant peach blossom trees.

Summer comes with cool, clear blue water mixed with sparkling sunlight shining on the water’s surface. It illuminates the whole area of blue sky and blue water, charming mountains and water.

Early morning and evening in the Cao Bang mountains, the weather will be cold. The temperature can drop to 15-16 degrees Celsius. If you travel by motorbike, remember to wear warm clothes and bring a raincoat.
