Le Mat Snake Village is a small village in Viet Hung ward (Gia Lam, Hanoi). From nearly 900 years ago, the villagers of Le Mat were famous for their traditional profession of catching and raising snakes.

Le Mat is a unique village, both ancient and modern. The village is located in the middle of National Highway 1A with Highway 5, in Viet Hung commune, Gia Lam district, about 7 km northeast of central Hanoi.

Tourists coming to Le Mat village, besides visiting the snake farm, are allowed to touch the snakes that do not have a poisonous filter, they can also witness with their own eyes how the chefs slaughter a snake.

Besides, if coming on the 23rd of March lunar month will organize a village festival to commemorate the citadel who had the merit of defeating the sea monster and set up “Ten three camps” (13 camps) in the west of ancient Thang Long citadel.

From the early morning of March 23, representatives of descendants of 13 camps west of the old Thang Long citadel teamed 13 trays of gifts brought from the capital to the communal house of Le Mat village to attend the festival.
