Huong Tra

Huong Tra is a land with many long-standing historical marks with remaining pieces of ancient relics and archaeological sites associated with the Sa Huynh culture. In particular, this sacred land is also the resting place of the Nguyen Dynasty kings with mausoleums with extremely unique architecture. 1. Where is Huong Tra?

Huong Tra is a town located in the center of Thua Thien Hue province, Vietnam. About 16 km northwest of Hue city center and about 115 km northwest of Da Nang city. With geographical location:

  • The east borders Hue city
  • The west borders Phong Dien district with the boundary being Bo river
  • The south borders Huong Thuy town and A Luoi district
  • The north borders Quang Dien district with the boundary being Bo river.

2. How is Huong Tra district unique?

This land has many marks of an urban area such as Thanh Ha commercial port, Bao Vinh ancient town and historical – cultural relics, temples,… connected to the heritage of Hue Imperial City and especially its diversity. diverse terrain and rich natural landscape.

Moreover, Huong Tra is also a land with a long history. Recent archaeological discoveries clearly show traces of ancient people on this land. Relics such as stone axes and pottery found in Phu O and Bau Dung (Huong Chu) allow us to confirm that these are relics dating back around 4,000 years ago.

In addition, the important archaeological relic associated with the Sa Huynh culture that was first discovered in Thua Thien Hue in 1987 is the Con Rang relic (Phu O, Huong Chu), which shows that the owner of this culture reached a high level in both material and spiritual life about 2,500 years ago.

This imprint was also found at Cua Thieng in 1988 (Phu Oc, Tu Ha). Along with Sa Huynh culture, in Thua Thien Hue there is also the presence of Dong Son culture.

3. When is the best time to visit Huong Tra?

Huong Tra is located in the tropical monsoon region of the Central Coast of Vietnam. There are two distinct seasons in the year: the rainy season and the dry season. The rainy season lasts from September to March of the following year, and the dry season lasts from April to August.

So, according to Huong Tra travel experience, the ideal time to travel here is from February to June every year. During this period, the weather has little rain, is dry, and the temperature is not too hot or too cold. It is convenient for moving and visiting outdoor tourist attractions.

4. How to get to Huong Tra?

4.1 Moving To Hue City

4.1.1. By plane

In fatc, this is the most convenient and fastest means of transportation for tourists from other provinces and cities to reach the Hue tourist area. Most domestic airlines currently have direct flights to Phu Bai airport, Hue. Flight time from Hanoi to Hue takes about 1 hour 15 minutes, from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue about 1 hour 30 minutes.

4.1.2 By passenger car

If you live in nearby localities, choosing a bus is quite suitable because the travel time is short and the cost is relatively low. On the other hand, if you are in remote provinces, you can choose a sleeper bus to travel. From Hanoi to Hue, please refer to buying bus tickets from popular bus companies running the Hanoi – Hue route such as Hung Thanh, Camel, Duc Thinh,… The Hanoi – Hue route has a travel time of about 12 – 14 hours.

From Ho Chi Minh City to Hue it takes about 20 hours. Some popular bus companies running the HCM – Hue route include Hoang Long, Huong Ty, Minh Phuong,…

4.1.3 By train

If you have a lot of time to travel to Hue and love sightseeing along the way, choose the train. Moreover the train tickets are not too expensive. Trains usually have hard seats, soft seats, beds and air-conditioned or non-air-conditioned compartments. If you go far in the hot season, you should choose trains SE3, SE1, buy air-conditioning sleeper tickets to be comfortable and shorten travel time.

4.2 Moving to Huong Tra from Hue city center

Starting from the center of Hue city, you follow Le Duan, Ly Thai To, Ly Nhan Tong streets and a section of National Highway 1A about 16 km northwest to reach the center of Huong Tra district.

5. Sightseeings at Huong Tra

5.1 Minh Mang Tomb

Minh Mang Tomb (also known as Hieu Lang) is located on Cam Ke Mountain, near Bang Lang junction. This is the place to worship King Minh Mang, who made great contributions to the country’s reforms during Nguyen dynasty. Especially, the tomb is located in the middle of a cool lake with the faint scent of lotus and the surrounding green pine hills.

5.2 Huyen Khong Son Thuong

Huyen Khong Son Thuong is a pagoda hidden behind the surrounding forests and hills. This is a pagoda that combines modern style with ancient features of Hue. The temple grounds are spacious, clean and beautiful with a beautiful surrounding lake.

5.3 Gia Long Tomb

Gia Long Tomb, also known as Thien Tho Lang, was built in 1814. Located on a high mountain, looking down is a cool, clear blue lake.

This is the resting place of King Gia Long and Queen Thua Thien Cao, a place that left a deep impression of an eternal love affair. The road to the mausoleum curves around with green grass and vast pine forests on both sides.

5.4 Hue Holy Literature

Van Thanh Hue was first built in Trieu Son village during the reign of the Nguyen Dynasty kings to allow the people to expand their territory and explore the South. Later, Van Thanh Hue was officially relocated to Van Thanh Street.

The architecture here is majestic, majestic but no less poetic as it is located right on the banks of the Perfume River. In 1947, the French colonialists destroyed Van Thanh Hue, leaving only the foundation left.

5.5 Huyen Khong Pagoda
