1. Where is Hue Walking Street?

Currently, Hue city has two walking streets to serve the sightseeing needs of tourists: Nguyen Dinh Chieu walking street and Western quarter. If the Western Quarter is famous for its busy entertainment services, Nguyen Dinh Chieu street has a peaceful beauty next to the romantic Perfume River, suitable for tourists to stroll and admire the scenery.

  • Nguyen Dinh Chieu Walking Street is located on Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street, Phu Hoi Ward, Hue City, Thua Thien Hue Province, Vietnam.
  • The Western Quarter is located on the axis of three routes: Chu Van An, Pham Ngu Lao and Vo Thi Sau. Also located in Phu Hoi ward, Hue city, Thua Thien Hue province, Vietnam.

Both of these walking streets are about 95 km from Da Nang city, about 121 km northwest of Hoi An city and about 168 km southeast of Dong Hoi city.

2. How is Hue walking streets unique?

Nguyen Dinh Chieu Walking Street is open from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Monday to Saturday. On Sundays, visitors can come here to visit and have fun at all hours. On January 15, 2019, the ironwood-floored walkway on the Huong River with a length of more than 380m was inaugurated. This route, along with Nguyen Dinh Chieu walking street, has created a highlight and a new look for the south bank of the Huong River, making this place an extremely attractive destination for tourists.

On the evening of September 29, 2017, the Western Quarter was officially opened and became a busy and bustling destination attracting thousands of visitors. The walking street lasts more than 1km and includes 3 streets: Pham Ngu Lao, Chu Van An and Vo Thi Sau. Hue West Quarter operates from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. On Sundays, Hue Walking Street is only open from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Currently, this street is known as one of the busiest destinations in Hue.

3. How to get to the walking street in Hue?

3.1 Moving To Hue

3.1.1. By plane

In fact, this is the most convenient and fastest means of transportation for tourists from other provinces and cities to reach the Hue tourist area. Most domestic airlines currently have direct flights to Phu Bai airport, Hue. Flight time from Hanoi to Hue takes about 1 hour 15 minutes, from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue about 1 hour 30 minutes.

3.1.2 By passenger car

If you live in nearby localities, choosing a bus is quite suitable because the travel time is short and the cost is relatively low. If you are in remote provinces, you can choose a sleeper bus to travel. From Hanoi to Hue, please refer to buying bus tickets from popular bus companies running the Hanoi – Hue route such as Hung Thanh, Camel, Duc Thinh,… The Hanoi – Hue route has a travel time of about 12 – 14 hours.

3.1.3 By train

If you have a lot of time to travel to Hue and love sightseeing along the way, choose the train. Train tickets are not too expensive. Trains usually have hard seats, soft seats, beds and air-conditioned or non-air-conditioned compartments. In addition, if you go far in the hot season, you should choose trains SE3, SE1, buy air-conditioned sleeper tickets to be comfortable and shorten travel time.

3.2 Moving to the Hue walking street

Because the walking streets in Hue are located right in the city center. Therefore, you can move here in many different ways such as: walking, cycling, renting a motorbike, taking a taxi,… Depending on where you are staying, your preferences and budget.

From points in the city area, you move towards Truong Tien bridge, then turn onto Le Loi street, go straight to Doi Cung and then turn right a bit more to get there.
