Ban Mac hot spring is located in Ban Mac village, Trinh Tuong commune, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province, Vietnam. About 38 km from Lao Cai city and about 328 km northwest of Hanoi capital.

2. How is Ban Mac hot springs unique?

Ban Mac hot spring is located at the end of the village. About 300 m from the residential area and about 3 km from the center of Trinh Tuong commune. The stream is located in the underground water system flowing from the rocks. The temperature ranges from 38-45 degrees Celsius. This place is about 20 meters from the mainstream (cold water stream).

Hot springs in Ban Mac are a unique natural resource. The water shoots up from the ground and creates tropical lakes with high temperatures. It contains many minerals that are beneficial for health. 4. How to get to Ban Mac hot spring?

4.1 From Hanoi To Lao Cai

From Hanoi to reach Bat Xat district, you can take a car or train to Lao Cai. Travel time is about 8 hours by train and 5 hours by car. Although Bat Xat district is only about 80km from Lao Cai. It will take you about 3-4 hours to get there. Because the scenery along the way is truly wonderful. You certainly won’t miss these moments.

You can catch a bus from My Dinh bus station (Hanoi) to go to Lao Cai. If you take the train, you go to Hanoi Train Station (Hanoi) to buy tickets. Most trains to Lao Cai depart in the evening, so you have time to stay overnight on the train. There are many types of train you can choose, from budget to luxury. And arrive at the Lao Cai station early the next morning to start exploring this land.

4.2 From Lao Cai City To Bat Xat

After arriving in Lao Cai city, you continue moving to Bat Xat. You can rent a taxi, catch a bus on the intra-provincial route. Especially for those who are passionate about exploration and adventure. You can rent a motorbike in Lao Cai city to go to Bat Xat. When traveling by motorbike, you have the opportunity to admire the beautiful natural scenery. Along both sides of the road, you can stop to rest whenever you want.

From Lao Cai city, you go out of the city along DT156 for about 40 km. At the intersection with DT158, you turn left and follow DT158 for about 40 km to reach Bat Xat.

4.3 From Bat Xat town to Ban Mac hot spring

From the center of Bat Xat town, you follow provincial road TL156 in the Northwest direction. It’s about 25 km to the intersection into the center of Trinh Tuong commune. From here, you turn left onto the inter-district road and go straight West and Southwest. It’s about 2 km more to reach Ban Mac hot spring area.

5. Exploring the beauty of Ban Mac hot springs

Even though it is near a residential area and was discovered a long time ago. Ban Mac hot spring still retains its wild character. People have expanded it and blocked it with large rocks. It’s enough for about 10-15 people to bathe.

Hot springs mainly serve people in Trinh Tuong commune and neighboring communes. So tourism services here are almost non-existent. The road to the hot spring area is a dirt road. Motorbikes can only go on sunny days. And transportation is relatively difficult in the rainy season. The dish is cooked according to a unique recipe of the highlanders. With soft and chewy noodles mixed inside: char siu meat, peanuts, raw vegetables,…Finally the broth is sprinkled on top.
