What you need to know about the Cantonese Assembly

The Cantonese Assembly is located at 176 Tran Phu Street, close to the Bridge Pagoda. It is easy for visitors to spot this place due to the unique architecture. About the history of the Cantonese Assembly Hall, this convention was built around the end of the 18th century. From the 15th to the 19th century, Hoi An is one of the main ports of our country. So many Chinese came here to do business. And a merchant association in Guangdong, China, decided to build a congregation in 1885. He wanted to make it a place of belief and a gathering of community activities. A place where people can meet regularly to help each other in business as well as in life.

The characteristic of Cantonese Assembly

The Cantonese assembly is also known as the Quang Trieu Assembly. The architecture is unique from the wood and stone materials. Assembly hall is a closed project with a gate, a large garden decorated with many plants. The palaces, backyard,… are quite similar to other conferences in Hoi An.

In the middle of the Assembly Hall is the main palace. It is divided into three main areas: the main one is for Quan Cong worship, two rooms on both sides are Phuoc Duc Chanh Than and Tai Bach. History books have recorded that in 1885 people came here to worship Thien Hau and Confucius. But since 1911, it changed to Quan Cong worship and fortune. The airy space is decorated in harmony with the system of large rafters.

There are many valuable artifacts from the ceramic such as precious ornamental porcelain clusters or four large gravestones. Each gravestone is at a height of 1.6m and 0.6m wide, made of bronze. The gravestones simulated images of the life of the Cantonese community here.

The Cantonese Assembly is an important part of Hoi An culture. This is the place that you must visit if you are on a Travel To Danang Plus Hoian 4 Days Trip. If you want to know more about Da nang tours or other Vietnam tours, please contact to Origin Travel.
