Nho Que River flows from Seo Lung village, Lung Cu commune, Dong Van district through Tu San Canyon, following Ma Pi Leng pass to Meo Vac. From Meo Vac, the water stream splits into two, flowing East and Southeast, through Cao Bang province before flowing into the Gam River.

The distance between Hanoi and Ha Giang is nearly 300 km, the road has many steep passes and narrow turns. Travel time between the two locations is about 5 – 6 hours, requiring the driver to have strong steering wheels.

Traveling by bus

Tourists who want to go to Ha Giang city can choose a bus as their means of transportation. Passenger buses from Hanoi to Ha Giang will depart at My Dinh bus station. There are many bus companies to Ha Giang city with different departure times, making it easy for tourists to choose. To save time, visitors should choose night buses to reach Ha Giang city early in the morning and you can start your sightseeing journey right away.

Traveling by plane

For tourists in remote provinces such as the Central or Southern regions of Vietnam, if you want to go to Ha Giang city, you must take a flight to Hanoi city first, then you will choose a motorbike, car or Passenger car to continue moving to Ha Giang.

4.2 Moving to Nho Que river wharf

There are 2 Nho Que river wharves for you to choose from: Ta Lang and Xin Cai. If departing from Dong Van town, visitors should choose to get off at Ta Lang wharf for convenient travel. From Dong Van, if you want to get to Ben Ta Lang, you have to go towards Ma Pi Leng pass to the area of Pai Lung commune, Meo Vac district. From here, you will see a sign pointing the way down to the marina. This road has many steep slopes and dangerous turns, so you should check your vehicle before starting. If you go by car, you have to park at the beginning of the road to the wharf, near Trang Huong bridge and then hire people to take you down.

Xin Cai commune belongs to Meo Vac district, the road to the commune runs along the Nho Que river. Moving to the end of Ma Pi Leng street, you will see a sign pointing the way down to Nho Que river at Xin Cai port. The distance from the sign to the boat dock is about 5 km. Once there, you have to continue walking about 2 km to get to the boat mooring point.

6. Price of boat service to visit Nho Que river

Currently, tourists have 3 options for vehicles to visit Nho Que River, each type of boat will have a different price.

6.1 Motor boats

The motorboat is equipped with seats, suitable for tourists who are tour groups, saving energy while admiring the beautiful scenery. In particular, the boat also allows combining passengers to save costs, so the price will be cheaper than other types of boats. Motorboat tickets range from 100,000 – 150,000 VND/person, the price for renting a whole boat will be more favorable.

Self-rowing boats come in two forms: wooden boats and iron boats, suitable for small groups of guests. The price for sailing on Nho Que river by self-rowing boat is from 100,000 – 150,000 VND/person. If you do not have experience rowing, you can hire additional rowers.

6.3 Kayaks

Kayaking to see the Nho Que River is an attractive experience, especially for young tourists. Kayaks are lightweight and easy to control, rental prices start at only 50,000 VND/person.

7. Specialties when traveling to Nho Que River

9. Some important notes when traveling to Nho Que River

  • If staying at Nho Que River until late afternoon, visitors should stay in Meo Vac town to save travel time.
  • If you walk down to the marina, you should prepare enough drinking water, clothes and protective shoes.
  • Moving to Nho Que River is not difficult, but the road is quite dangerous. You should choose a driver with a steady steering wheel.
  • Motorbike taxis taking passengers to the wharf cost about 150,000 VND/round trip, visitors should pay the price before boarding.

  • Maintain general hygiene, do not litter into the Nho Que river.
