Tra Que vegetable village is located in Tra Que village, Cam Ha commune, Hoi An city, Quang Nam province, Vietnam. Located on the peaceful Co Co river, this place is about 3 km northeast of Hoi An city center. About 26 km from Da Nang city and about 120 km southeast of Hue city.

2. How is Tra Que vegetable village unique?

The vegetable village is rotated and intercropped by households with more than 20 different types of leafy vegetables and spices. Considered the largest vegetable granary in the Quang Nam – Da Nang area. Specializing in providing fresh, clean, organic vegetables all year round. At the same time, this is also a unique destination not to be missed when traveling to Hoi An.

Tra Que vegetable village has a history of more than 300 years. In the beginning, the village grew many types of herbs, including a vegetable called Nhu Que, which has the strong scent of cinnamon. In the 19th century, King Gia Long had the opportunity to visit and enjoy the taste of vegetables here, so he named the village Tra Que. That name has been passed down and used to this day.

On April 4, 2022, Tra Que vegetable village was officially recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. Since then, it has become an interesting tourist destination, attracting many tourists. The village is always open to visitors every day of the week with exciting experiential activities at the village.

3. When is the best time to visit Tra Que vegetable village?

Tra Que Vegetable Village is an outdoor attraction, so weather factors need to be taken into account to have the most meaningful and memorable experience.

February to April and August to December are great times to visit the village. Because this is the time when the weather is cool and dry, and the vegetable garden is always green and the most developed of the year. The air at this time is extremely fresh and cool, allowing you to relax and enjoy the peaceful pace of life.

Additionally, during the day, you should arrive early in the morning between 5:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. or after 4:00 p.m. This time is also the time when farmers go to the fields to care for and harvest vegetables. You can join them, chat and learn more experiences.

4. How to get to Tra Que vegetable village from Hoi An ancient town?

4.1 Means of transportation to Tra Que vegetable village

Tra Que vegetable village is only about 3 km from Hoi An ancient town, so you can easily get to Tra Que vegetable village by many different means such as car, motorbike or bicycle. Travel time ranges from 5 – 20 minutes depending on the type of vehicle you choose.

If you travel by bicycle, you will have time to relax, breathe fresh air and admire the beautiful landscape of Hoi An countryside. The cost of renting a bicycle usually ranges from 30,000 – 50,000 VND/bike.

Motorbikes and cars are also the forms of choice that many tourists choose when coming to the vegetable village. The cost for each way is about 50,000 – 100,000 VND. However, you need to note that some streets prohibit motorbikes and cars from operating.

4.2 Directions to Tra Que vegetable village

  • From Da Nang: You follow Son Tra – Dien Ngoc road toward Hoi An about 20km. At the intersection, turn into Hoi An ancient town and then go about 500m more to see the gate of Tra Que vegetable village.
  • From Hoi An: With a close distance, the distance from Hoi An to Tra Que vegetable village is extremely convenient. You can start from the center, then go to Ly Thuong Kiet street. You continue going straight on this road and turn right at Hai Ba Trung intersection. Along Hai Ba Trung street, you cross the bridge and go another 50m then turn right to the peaceful, rustic Tra Que vegetable village.

Note: If you travel to Tra Que vegetable village by motorbike, you can go deep into the village. If you go by car, you must park the car at the village gate and then walk in.
