However, Mu Cang Chai is a highland district located in the territory of Yen Bai province. It borders Van Ban district in Lao Cai province in the north, Muong La district in Son La province in the north, Than Uyen district in Lai Chau province, and Van Chan district in the east. It is located at the foot of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, 1,000 m above sea level.

To get to Mu Cang Chai district, you have to pass Khau Phau pass – one of the four Great Passes of the Northwest. Mu Cang Chai is about 280 km from Hanoi, where thousands of visitors from all over the country come to visit and travel every year.

How to go to Mu Cang Chai?

To travel to Mu Cang Chai you have many options such as moving by motorbike, private car. However, there are only two main ways:

  • Highway No.1: From Ha Noi through national highway 32, pass Trung Ha bridge, Thanh Son district (Phu Tho), then through Nghia Lo town, to Tu Le commune (Van Chan district) of Yen Bai before crossing Khau pass You have to go to Mu Cang Chai. Total distance 300km.
  • Highway No.2: Take Highway Ha Noi – Lao Cai Pass O Quan Pass through Tan Uyen district and Than Uyen Lai Chau province and then to Mu Cang Chai.

Depending on the conditions and preferences of yourself that you can choose the appropriate route for yourself.

According to the statistics of Mu Cang Chai district, there are 2,200 ha of terraced fields, the most concentrated in three communes: La Pan Tan, Che Cu Nha and De Xu Phinh, the area of terraced fields is 500 ha. 500 hectares of land.

These terraced fields are the heritage of the Mong people, granted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on October 18, 2007. This is a unique and unique view of Vietnam.
