The must-see places in Hanoi are the most precious and famous monuments of the city. They are the places that you have to go visit whenever you come to this historical city.

Ha Noi is the capital of a beautiful tropical country – Viet Nam. The city is so famous for its natural beauty. No doubt that it is one of the most attractive destinations that you should come once in your life. An overlook about Ha Noi

Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam, located in the North of the country. Ha Noi contains three kinds of terrain. They are delta area, midland area and mountainous area. The terrain of Ha Noi is lower from the north to the south and from the west to the east. Its average height, generally, is about 5 – 20 meters above the sea level. Ha Noi has a warm humid subtropical climate. This gives the city 4 distinct seasons. Usually, summer is from May until August. The weather is hot, humid and have a lot of rainfall. Fall is from September to October. In this season, the temperature and precipitation will decrease and the weather becomes more comfortable. Winter of Ha Noi is from November to January. The typical weather is dry and cold. And the spring comes in February and last until March with sunny, cool and comfortable weather.

The Old Quarter:

Hanoi Old Quarter

This quarter used to be a commercial and residential area during the Lý and Trần dynasties. And then it was located at the east of the Imperial Citadel of Thăng Long and along the Red River. The Old Quarter also has another common name is the 36 streets. The reason is there are 36 streets. And each street was specialized in one specific type of commercial or manufacturing activity. And each street in the quarter is named by the main products being sold. For example, Hàng Tre street will sell bamboo or the other products which are made of bamboo. Hàng Mắm street is the place where you can find every kind of fermented sauces you want to eat.

There are some famous streets in the Old Quarter that you shouldn’t miss, they are: Hàng Mã street, Hàng Thiếc street, Hàng Buồm street, Hàng Bông street… Moreover, the characteristic of the 36 streets is the ancient architecture. There you can find the old houses since the 18th and 19th centuries. Make sure that your Vietnam tours will be so interesting and amazing if you take time to visit the Old Quarter.

Hoan Kiem Lake:

Hanoi - Hoan Kiem Lake

This is considered as one of the most famous must – see places in Ha Noi. There is a historical story behind its name. “Hoan Kiem” means “return the sword”. Following the legend, Emperor Le Loi was boating on the lake when a Golden Turtle God surfaced. It wanted to lend him a magic sword, Heaven’s Will. This sword is to fight off the enemies and win the war. After winning the fight, Emperor Le Loi gave the sword back to the Turtle God. And he changed the name of lake from “Luc Thuy” into “Hoan Kiem” Lake to commemorate this event. And this is the reason why there is a Turtle tower. The tower stands on a small island near the center of the lake.

If you visit the capital, let’s visit Hoan Kiem lake. This is where you can understand the history and spirit of Hanoi. Hoan Kiem lake is truly the symbol of the city.

Temple of Literature:

Temple of Literature - Hanoi

This temple was built in 1070 at the time of Emperor Ly Thanh Tong. Then it was reconstructed during the Tran dynasty (1225 – 1400). The Temple of Literature hosts the Imperial Academy, the first national university of Viet Nam. It is located at the south of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long. Each year, there are a thousand of visitors who come and visit this famous destination.
