Mai Chau-Moc Chau Hard Trek

Mai chau is a beautiful valley of the Thai people – one of the largest group in 54 ethnic minorities in Vietnam. It is located in the North west of Hanoi(145km), This region covered by rich tropical forest, limestone panoramas, and beautiful rice paddies with water wheels and enjoys breathtaking scenery. This trip will be a great choice to talk with nature, visit and enjoy local food in the traditional house-on-stilt of the Thai.

Day 1: Hanoi – Mai Chau – Hang kia – Pa Co

Pick you up from your hotel depart for Mai Chau towards Hoa Binh province located in the North west of Hanoi. The trip is going though spectacular scenery on the peaceful countryside of Vietnam, like green rice paddies, limestone mountains, a stop on pass for drinking and taking nice photo of mountain village for 30 minutes. Arrival Mai Chau at noon, welcome drink and enjoy lunch on traditional house-on-stilt of Thai. After lunch make the acquaintance of local guide who are the professional local guide, porter as well as cook for us during trekking time. We drive for one hour to Xa Linh village to begin 3 hrs trek through beautiful villages, the gravel tracks and small paths used by the locals. Our destination for this evening is Hang Kia village, homeland of the H’mong Minority people, this is one of the largest group in Vietnam. Free to discover the village, dinner after a short cooking practice and stay overnight as the guests of an H’mong family in a traditional long house, situated in a picturesque valley of peach orchards. O/N at Hang Kia village.

Day 2: Hang Kia – Trek to Van village

Breakfast and then we get well and truly off the beaten track as we trek through tropical rain forest, using the local tracks and passing through corn fields as we descend in to Mai Chau Valley. The trek takes around 5 hours and is quite steep in places. Lunch will be provided at the local stall at the foot of the valley. From here, we pass through several ethnic minority villages, long spread out fields decorated with water wheels to make our way to Van village by late afternoon, then we have time to walk around this charming little white Thai village, enabling us to understand a little more about how the people live. Tonight we will be horned guests in one of their traditional stilt houses. Dinner will be served here and you are able to sample some of their homemade rice wine! O/N at Van village

Day 3: Van – Trek to Xam Khoe village

After breakfast a whole day – easy and nice trek passing through several more Thai hamlets. We walk on the valley floor and are surrounded by rice paddies and beautiful scenery. Picnic lunch and arrival in Xam Khoe village in the afternoon. Cook, then enjoy the dinner with the host, slumber away after having nips of maize wine. Free time to walk around or talk with local people. O/N at Xam Khoe.

Day 4: Xam Khoe_ Pom Coong (Mai Chau) – Hanoi

Say farewell with the host after breakfast. Trek back to Poom Coom village through beautiful rice terraces, inhale peaceful atmosphere here in the morning…. Lunch will be served by Thai people, then a short free time for you to stroll around the village before driving through the mountain range back to Hanoi. Arrival in Hanoi by 5 pm. Finish our journey at your hotel
